The long-term objectives of the project are to better understanding agriculture producers’ and other landowners’ attitudes toward and motivations for participating in conservation programs directed at improving water quality and benefitting wildlife and wildlife habitat. This proposal will focus on decisions to place new and/or maintain existing drainage tile. We will compare the factors influencing such decisions in two study areas: one in the Plains and Prairie Potholes LCC and one in the Eastern Tallgrass Prairie & Big Rivers LCC. Data will be collecting using a social survey with a focus on understanding the motivations and beliefs about outcomes associated with placing/maintain drainage tile.
