Evaluating the American woodcock diet paradox in the northern breeding range
The apparent paradox of woodcock primarily relying on prey that was not historically available on their breeding grounds has been a source of debate, and the historical (pre-earthworm invasion) and current role that earthworms may play in driving woodcock population dynamics is largely unknown.
The variable influence of autonomous and controlled motivation on identity salience among Minnesota deer hunters
In 2021, Kyle Smith and David Fulton worked in close collaboration with Dr. Adam Landon with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MNDNR) to design and implement social science research to better understand why some hunters lapse or drop out of participation in hunting.

Red-headed Woodpecker demography, habitat associations, and migration ecology
Since 2017, Dr. Elena West and collaborators have been researching red-headed woodpecker demography, habitat associations, and migration ecology at sites in Minnesota, Ohio, and Michigan to elucidate critical periods, locations, life stages, and habitat characteristics associated with population growth rates and to provide habitat restoration and management recommendations for land managers and the public.
Evaluating Biodiversity and Abundance of Top Predators on Bahamian Reefs
Baited Remote Underwater Video (BRUV) surveys were used to capture survey video data from locations in The Bahamas, following protocols established by the Global FinPrint project, by researchers from John G. Shedd Aquarium in 2017 to 2020.
